Some Clinical Observation on 500 Cases of Amebic Liver Abscess

Abstract

|
Some clinical observation was done on 500 cases of amebic liver abscess admitted during the past 16 years from 1961 to 1976 in three general hospitalsKyungpook National University Hospital, Dong-San Presbyterian Hospital and Daegu Fatima Hospitallocated in Daegu city.
Results are Summarized as follows;
1) Amebic liver abscess was prevalent in 4th and 5th decades and number of cases appeared to have decreased since 1970. Concerning the seasonal variation, number of admission was greatest in Autumn.
2) The location of abscess in the liver was studied by scintiscan with colloidal gold. The frequent sites of involvement were in the order of posterosuperior, Posteroinferior and anterosuperior of the right lobe of the liver.
3) Comparing the pattern of cold area between ttaebic liver abscess and hepatoma, so-called hole like
E defect appeared more frequent in abscess especially in 4 Cases in whom the cold area located in the portion of the liver above its lower edge.
